The "official" reopening of Andrew's Park!

Well, ok, it is also known as the "Portsmouth Playground".
Here we are with the famed, long-standing Mayor of Boston, Tom Menino (aka "Mumbles" Menino). It felt like we were old friends, something about his approachability and demeanor.

I came prepared with my request for a safer intersection to cross over to the Charles River (and hehe, to our fave playground in Watertown: the Arsenal Park).
With a chirp to so-and-so, Menino summonsed over an adept ear, keenly taking notes of the issue at hand. We were promised *results*, and astoundingly, within a week! Was this political hocus-pocus? I am skeptical.
Maybe as we head across the treacherous intersection tomorrow, (many strollers: "power in numbers" as we call it) I'll take some pictures of the "feat" in case we need ammunition.
We were also promised a follow-up phone call, in any case.
Cutting the ribbon to "allow entry" into our new playground!
There was a special kids musician who played harmonica too! Maracas and toy guitars were there for the kids. They also had face painting (we didn't dare), and lots of balloons.
....And, free t-shirts!
All the moms got big marigold plants! (Great) Grandma and (Great) Auntie Carol walked to-and-from the park and carried our plants back to put in our garden.
Menino said "You better plant that!" Little does he know, what a garden we have!

how cool is that?!?
however folks feel about Menino, the man is a legend, a true Bostonian character that our city wouldn't be the same without!
I love that you mentioned crossing to the Charles and I 100000 percent agree! I would walk to work (when I lived in Brighton, I would've walked to the night job all the time if there was better crosswalks/lights/etc.).. I hope you get a response and thanks for mentioning that, it's perfect!
Let's go for a stroll after work soon? Dinner perhaps? :)

HA! good for andrew to advocate for safer trips to the arsenal park.
