Walden Pond

I scouted out the best location on the very crowded pond.
It was my first time there during the summer (and having visited only once before, over 13 years ago). Being unfamiliar, I asked a park ranger if umbrellas were allowed (yes, though no one had one up: plenty of shade trees) and where the best place to be was. He questioned how far we could go with the stroller (duh! the Mountain Buggy goes anywhere).... but said the "far corner over there" was a good spot. I took his word for it.
Up front, the place was really smelly. Think lots of hot bodies in the sun and rotting pollen (which has a powerful stink). I pitied the poor souls who sought the first spot.
After all, we were at Thoreau's pond! We ended up on the opposite side and took the place where a 16-mo-old and her parents and another couple were just packing up to leave.
The water was warm and shallow for a while and the area completely shaded by trees.
It was meant to be!

Soon behind us were Oskar and his parents Ragnhild and Adam, and August (Oskar's cousin visiting from Sweden with his parents: Ragnhild's sister, Elizabeth and husband George).
We *did* go in up to our necks. I didn't dunk him in all the way. As we got deeper in the water he crawled up higher on me: yikes! The water was pretty warm for being this early in the swim season.
Lots of minnows darted around and some bullfrogs nearby were croaking.
This will be a fun place to visit when he's older!

Splash fun!

Even at tranquil Walden Pond, SURPRISE!!! A communter rail train blared its horn then stormed on by. It was shocking excitement but the babies didn't complain.
Nice and tired for the ride home.
