Baby Daze

Andy had a rough day yesterday!
Well, of course the honeymoon had to end on his 3-week-old birthday~
"They say" it gets better at 6 weeks.... Are we in for some trouble???
I couldn't wait for Alex to get home from work!

Dad tries consoling him. Works...for about a minute.
Was it something I ate?
He seemed troubled with pain in his gut. If only babies could talk!
By the end of the night, Alex had the Enfamil out, bottle prepared...
After an initial (fooled) voracious gulp, it was definitely REJECTED!! "Waaaaaah!!!!"
Alex tasted it and said it wasn't that great. I tried it and thought it tasted like paper.
Needless to say, he happily went back to the boob~
We had a good rest-of-the-wee-hours with him going back to crib promptly after feeds, thank God!
I'd had a dull headache all day (from the constant crying?)...only to later realize it was likely coffee withdrawal: I skipped my usual cup that morning! Maybe Andy had the same "issue"?

Today we are much happier.

Wow he sure has gotten bigger since my last "visit!" Honeymoon phase ended for us on week 3 too...conveniently when Joe went back to work. Don't worry it will get better. If Andy gets colicky try swaddling or a baby swing. Otherwise, you guys all look great. I love the priceless greatgrandma pic. BTW, we'll be back in Boston last week of August, could we sneak over a quick visit? :-)

ahhh! i hope he's not going to be a colicky baby as were my two!!! It lasted about 2to3 months for each!! It was a horrible time for te as for me cause i used to think it was from breastfeeding which would cause me to stop! But i hope it eases out soon 4 you guys(fingers crossed)

Ah, a baby swing! That is the only piece of baby gear we don't have. I wanted to avoid getting one if possible. We'll see....
That is so cool, you'll be back in town! Please, of course come for a visit!!

Yes, I think the natural thing to do is blame myself for something that I ate! I read it takes 4-6 hours for whatever you eat to get into the milk. That means all the onions, peppers and garlic I've been eating are fine! Sounds gross but I have been avoiding bacon b/c I can literally smell it on him afterwards!
I've been offering both sides the past day instead of just one so now he is going 3-4 hours between feeds instead of 2-2 1/2. The crying bouts aren't falling into the 3+ hour range, so not totally "colicy" but nevertheless, challenging!
The crying is definitely from gas. I try to deal by rotating him like a little rotisserie chicken into different positions for temporary comfort. Other times, placing him on my chest or in the peanut sling works pretty well.
