Our First Outing as a Family

Today (Thursday), we went to Magic Beans in Brookline to buy a couple necessities and I showed Alex the stroller and high chair I'd like to get further down the road.
Little Andrew (like *all* babies do) fell asleep as soon as we were moving in the car. I rode in the back seat to watch him but didn't have to intervene once.
We then had a very filling lunch at Qdoba (Mexican) then headed over to Tevukas' in Cambridge. Brian got to meet him for the first time.
Seen here, Tevukas might eat the baby!Andrew's car seat fits into a stroller shell which has an ample basket underneath. Super-convenient!
Tevukas has a nice back yard for Andrew to run around in someday.

Brian noticed that Alex and I now refer to each other as "Mommy" and "Daddy"! LOL!!

It would have been nice if he was awake but for now, we know a sleeping baby is a good thing i.e. otherwise he probably needs to be fed or changed.
He does have "quiet alert" times, however, they are just not that predictable yet.

Later on, Mommy dressed him in this little sailor outfit (which he is already too long for!).Based on his gaining 2oz/day or thereabout, I am guessing he's back at his birth weight.
It'll be interesting to watch him get all chubby! We've noticed it happening in his cheeks.

2oz is a lot.... Just think, a stick of butter is 4oz! Hopefully it's "melting" off Mommy's body just the same;;; I am confident it is- mother nature at her best- my appetite is no longer as voracious. No more cravings for Friendly's chocolate peanut butter cup sundaes *every* night!

Hey Heather, love the sailor suit!
How are you feeling? Are you in any pain from the c-section? It sounds like you have recovered in full!

Hi Sarah!
When I got home from the hospital Alex had my prescriptions for Percocet, stool softener (percs make you constipated), vitamins and 600mg ibuprofen filled immediately.. We were in the elevator leaving the hospital (of course when I realized I should've taken one) so by the time I got it I was hurting! I only took one more perc before switching to the ibuprofen. Today is the first day I haven't found it necessary to take one. The soreness is really only felt when using abdominal muscles (sneezing, belly laughing, getting out of bed). It's so interesting, I only had a bandage over the incision one day before (the told me to take it off while showering- that was scary!). I know my belly button took forever to heal after getting it pierced but this is a whole different story- healed fast! Now there are 10 pieces of "reinforcement" tape across the incision which will come off on their own over time.

Hey Rach!
Yeah, all the time we are trying to figure out who this one-of-a-kind little guy resembles. And you know, doesn't his hair look red!?
I have a hunch it will lighten up. In my baby pic my hair was also reddish. I should have you scan in a couple pics for me :D... Maybe when I go for a walk to Makepeace to introduce him (sooon??).
I am guessing he has Alex's eyes, nose & mouth, my neck, ears, hands and feet.

Well, that is really amazing. Glad you are feeling good and not in pain.
Hey, if you happen to have any free time (although that doesn't seem possible) could you post your stuffed zuchini recipe?
Love to attempt to make that.
Enjoy your weekend!
XO Sarah

Stuffed Zuchini

Brown up 3/4 lb ground beef (85% more flavor) but then use a spoon to remove from pan leaving grease behind/or dab up excess grease with paper towels. Remove from pan and with some (tsp or so) grease remaining, soften up a chopped shallot (or 1/2 onion) and 2 large cloves of garlic, chopped. Be careful to cook on low heat & not brown up. Add back to the beef and toss in the herbs, cheese and sauce.

1 large zuke, cut down length in half then innards removed to create 1/4" shell.
cup or more of shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tsp rosemary (fresh or dried)
2 Tbl chopped parsley
4 Tbl chopped basil
1/3 jar pasta "baking sauce" (I like Barilla)

Hot oven, 475, for 25 minutes, adding more cheese to top during the last 5 minutes.

*I just made this recipe up. Alex did all the prep work ;D

At first, he boiled a zuke but that was a mistake as it turned to juicy mush.
Cooking in a hot oven does the trick (and the inside part is already cooked so just the cheese needs to melt.
Serve with spaghetti w/sauce & parmesan.
For two people, one half is plenty. We are having the other half for dinner tonight (instead of baking it I just wrapped it and stuck it in the fridge).
The serving size really depends on what size zuke you get ahold of. I've made it with smaller pieces which just ended up being overstuffed/overflowing, which is fine.
